FAQs
When did this retreat first begin?
Our first retreat was in 2014, followed by annual gatherings until 2019. The 2020 retreat was canceled due to COVID-19. After a long pause, the retreat returned in 2024—back by popular demand!

Where have past retreats been held?
Past retreats have been held in Newark, OH, and Milford, OH. We moved the retreat to Loyola because they have more to offer, such as private rooms for all guests and a chef. The goal is to keep the retreat affordable without compromising quality.
When is the registration deadline?
August 1, but the sooner you register, the better! Space is limited, and we may close registration early to maintain the retreat's intimate atmosphere.
Will there be any formal instruction, such as a writing workshop?
Nope. We will have fellowship time for sharing, where guests may get tips and suggestions from one another, but overall, this retreat is non-instructional and self-directed. Guests should come prepared to focus on their projects over the weekend.

What can I expect during this retreat?
Tranquility, time, and space—all for you! Too often, personal writing projects are pushed aside, especially when writing is a hobby rather than a source of income. We put the responsibilities of caregiving, work, ministry, and much more over our own needs, neglecting things we enjoy. This weekend, you won't have to worry about anything, not even what to eat!
I'm not a writer. Can I still attend?
Sure! If you want to come and sleep the entire weekend, you have that right! Some past attendees have used this as a reading weekend. The time is yours to spend as you please. We only ask that you leave noisy habits at home—so, no using this weekend to learn how to play the tuba! 🎺😉

Why is it only for women? Men write, too!
With all due respect to the men, this retreat is for biological women only. Since we’re all housed under one roof, our goal is to create a space where every woman feels completely comfortable and focused on writing—without distractions. Men can write too, of course… just not with us this weekend!
